Bayeux Porcelain Table Lamp

Absolutely beautiful, 19th century, Chinoiserie style, ribbed, hand-painted, glazed and parcel gilt vase turned into a table lamp. The design features a majestic staircase rising to a gate, as well as large scale birds, blossoms, and a variety of figures.  The whole on a raised, giltwood base.  Shade: 21"Diameter. According to the Bayeux Porcelain Museum, "Bayeux porcelain from the period 1855-1879...evolved from oriental influences towards the prevailing use of a vegetal motif inspired by apple blossom. This was highly successful and became the main style of decoration from 1870 onwards, under the direction of Paul Gosse."
