Original, Barbizon School Painting

A jewel like, petite, oil-on-panel of a lush, French landscape with a cloaked figure in the middle distance. A sculptural tree is the focal point, standing out against a blue sky with passing clouds. Held in a period, giltwood frame. The hand-written label on the reverse attributes the picture to listed printmaker and painter, Antoine Ponthus-Cinier (1812 - 1885) of Lyons, whose works can be found today at the British Museum, and the National Gallery of Canada. Panel: 9.375"H x 6.5" W
