Remarkable, 17th Century Spanish Columns

A pair of richly carved, gessoed and painted columns featuring gilded drapery swags and a series of angel's faces. Each column contains a medallion- one depicting the sun and the other, the moon. Both are capped with a Corinthian inspired capital with curling foliage. The fluted, gilded lower quarters of each, date to the 19th century.
