18th Century Italian Veneered Secretary – Parquetry Inlaid, Bonnet Top from Emilia-Romagna

18th Century Italian Veneered Secretary – Parquetry Inlaid, Bonnet Top from Emilia-Romagna

A superb 18th century two-part secretary from Emilia-Romagna, Northern Italy, hand-carved, veneered, and richly parquetry inlaid in walnut and fruitwood. The elegant bonnet top cabinet rests above a serpentine, bow-front base with a scrolling apron, delicate feet, and finely detailed architecture. Retains its original gilt bronze escutcheons and drawer pulls, enhancing the piece’s authenticity and charm.

Documented in the 1994 publication “Antique Furniture of Emilia-Romagna” (Poligrafico Artioli, Modena, Italy), this secretary is not only visually striking but also scholarly recognized. An exceptional acquisition for collectors of 18th century Italian furniture, regional inlaid cabinetry, or published antique works of art.
