c. 1780 Genoese Burl & Inlaid Commode – Four-Drawer Serpentine Front with Corinthian Pilasters

c. 1780 Genoese Burl & Inlaid Commode – Four-Drawer Serpentine Front with Corinthian Pilasters

A striking 18th century Italian commode from Genoa, exquisitely hand-carved, veneered, inlaid, and ebonized. The serpentine front features four drawers, with clipped corners anchored by turned pilasters topped in refined Corinthian capitals. The surface is richly finished in burl veneer with elegant foliate pear-wood inlay, highlighting the sophistication of late 18th century Ligurian craftsmanship.

The lower three drawers retain their original gilt bronze pulls, while the upper drawer has been fitted with antique bronze replacements. From a private Genoese collection, this piece is ideal for connoisseurs of Italian neoclassical furniture, inlaid burl case pieces, or rare Genoese antique commodes with architectural presence.
