Cast Bronze Statue of St. Francis
A beautiful, Italian, patinated, cast bronze figure of St. Francis of Assisi standing atop a rock-form plinth of the same. The figure with a gently inclined head, is in his monastic robes and attended by birds. Known as a lover of the natural world, the friar and deacon was said to have preached to the birds who were transfixed by the power of his voice, and did not fly away. Signed, "Ferdinando Marinelli, Firenze" which is one of the last remaining foundries in Florence, having begun work in 1905.
