Italian Neoclassical Marquetry Storage Commode with Carrara Marble Top — Circa 1940's

Italian Neoclassical Marquetry Storage Commode with Carrara Marble Top — Circa 1940's

Italian Neoclassical commode, adorned in marquetry and geometric inlay, embodying the intellectual clarity and symmetry of classical revival design. The façade is animated by finely rendered Neoclassical figures set within intricate fields of geometric parquetry, creating a composition that is both narrative and architectural.  Richly French polished for an elegant finish.

Adapted for practical storage or a bar, the drop-down front reveals a concealed interior compartment and a single central drawer.  The inlay work extends across the entire chest, where contrasting veneers are arranged with disciplined precision and is crowned by a Carrara marble top. Legs are capped with bronze sabots.
