Large Solid Bronze Eagle Sculpture by Sirio Tofanari – Lost Wax Cast, Fonderia Ferdinando Marinelli, c. 1920s

A fabulous and commanding cast bronze eagle sculpture from the 1920s, created using the lost wax method by renowned Italian sculptor Sirio Tofanari (1886–1969). This finely detailed work was executed by the esteemed Fonderia Artistica Ferdinando Marinelli in Florence and showcases Tofanari’s mastery of form, texture, and anatomical precision within the Italian Animalier movement.

Tofanari, a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, exhibited widely—from every Venice Biennale between 1909 and 1934 to a dedicated pavilion at the Rome Quadriennale. His work is held in major collections across Europe and the Americas. In 1949, he was appointed to the Accademia di San Luca in Rome by decree of the President of the Republic. This sculpture stands as an exceptional example of his celebrated legacy—rich in movement, scale, and artistic grandeur.
